DRT has been rewritten in Rust; this is the first release of this codebase, and the first release to support XP12.

DataRefTool has been rewritten from scratch using Rust. This was done for several reasons:

• Building cross-platform software in Rust takes less time than it does in C++ due to better tooling and more cross-platform libraries.
• Development in Rust is simply more pleasant, because the language handles so much.
• Performance (once optimized) should be on-par with the C version.
• A lot of code can be shared with other plugins that I am developing.

Because of the magnitude of the change, there may be quite a few new bugs. I expect to release a series of updates to DRT over the next couple of weeks.

Finally, X-Plane 12 is now fully supported as well. For the forseeable future, I expect to support both X-Plane 11 and 12.

Changes

• X-Plane 12: DRT fully supports X-Plane 11 and 12.
• Color scheme: New color scheme is designed to be accessible to color-blind users.
• UI update: The UI now closely matches the new X-Plane 12 theme.
• Deprecated dataref handling: Deprecated datarefs are now indicated in the UI, and won't be loaded until a button is clicked. This is necessary to avoid triggering a warning in X-Plane 12.
• Better change detection: Big and small changes are now indicated differently in the UI (light and dark blue).
• Performance: Using new technology for rendering the UI means a smaller frame rate hit due to rendering, particularly for text.

Known issues

• Linux UI: The UI doesn't work at all on Linux systems.
• Apple code signing: The plugin is not code signed.
• Floating point values ending in zeroes may be displayed incorrectly (see version 2.0.4 release notes)
